The deal, in the plainest words we can manage.

1. This agreement

These terms are between you and BPAA Australia Pty Ltd ("AI Root", "we"), a company incorporated in Australia. By using the website or the API you accept them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind it.

Our privacy policy forms part of these terms.

2. What the service is

AI Root compiles public information — government registers, procurement records, filings and trade press — into structured, versioned records about energy infrastructure: projects, tenders, and the organisations behind them. Every field carries a source link, the time we fetched it, and a confidence level, and every version is kept so you can see what changed.

We are a compiler and publisher of public information. We are not the registrar. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any of the authorities or companies our records describe.

3. Accounts and keys

Some parts of the service need an account. Sign-in is by emailed link, so keep access to your inbox secure. API keys are shown to you once, at creation — we store only a hash and genuinely cannot recover one for you. Treat a key like a password: you are responsible for what happens under your keys, and you can revoke and re-mint them at any time from your account.

One account per person or organisation. Don't share keys outside your organisation or resell access to them.

4. Plans and payment

Paid plans are arranged directly with us and invoiced; we do not take card details on the site. Prices are exclusive of any tax that applies where you are. We may change prices for a future term, and will tell you before a renewal at a new price.

Because a subscription is access to data you can read immediately, paid terms are non-refundable once the term has started, except where a refund is required by law or where we have failed to provide the service. You can cancel at any time and access continues to the end of the term you have paid for.

5. Acceptable use

Use the service for your own business purposes. Specifically, do not:

• Try to get around the caps, rate limits or paywalls — including by registering many accounts, rotating keys, or scraping the pages to reassemble what the plan you are on does not include.
• Redistribute, resell or republish the paid dataset in bulk, or build a substitute product from it. A citation with a link is welcome; a mirror is not.
• Point a webhook at an address you don't control, or at private network space. We check webhook destinations when you create them and again when we send.
• Interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without telling us first, or use it to break the law.
• Use the data to make decisions about individuals, or to try to identify or profile people. The dataset is about companies and assets, by design.

We publish a small number of records openly for anyone to read and cite without an account. That is deliberate, and it is not an invitation to take the rest.

6. Rights in the data

Three different things are mixed together on these pages, and they have different owners:

• The underlying facts — a plant's capacity, a tender's winner — come from public sources, and we claim no ownership of them.
• Our compilation — the structure, the joins between tenders, projects and parties, the version history, the confidence and provenance assessments, and the software — is ours, and is protected by copyright and database rights.
• Third-party source material. Some sources carry their own licences. Where a source allows commercial reuse (for example, material published under CC BY 4.0), the attribution it requires travels with the record and you must keep it. Where a source does not permit redistribution, we display it but exclude it from anything you can export — and you must not extract and redistribute it either.

Subject to your plan and these terms, you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the data inside your own organisation, and to quote and cite it externally with attribution to AI Root and a link.

7. The open sample

Our export endpoint and data page publish a sample of the dataset openly, under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), with no account required. You may use that sample commercially, provided you attribute AI Root and link back.

Two limits, stated plainly: it is a capped sample rather than the whole register, and it excludes sources whose own licences forbid redistribution. The response tells you the full size of each category, so you can always see what the cap is hiding rather than mistaking a sample for the whole.

8. Contributions

Anyone can submit a correction or an addition, with a source, without an account. If you do:

• You confirm you have the right to send it, and that it does not contain confidential information or anyone's personal details.
• You grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, publish and adapt it as part of the dataset.
• A submission never overwrites a record automatically. It goes to a queue, a person reviews it, and only a reviewer can promote it into the data. We may accept, reject or ignore anything.
• Don't submit spam, or anything you know to be false. Both are grounds for a block.

9. Accuracy — the honest part

We work hard on this. The pipeline records where every field came from, keeps every version, refuses to guess a location it cannot verify, and declines to publish a figure it cannot support. Where we compute something rather than quote it, the record says so.

None of that makes it perfect. Registers contradict each other, publishers restate figures, press reports are wrong, and a name-based join can match the wrong site. The service and the data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

If you find something wrong, tell us — there is a form on every record, and a correction that reaches us is worth more than one that doesn't.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, however caused. Our total liability for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If the Australian Consumer Law applies to you, you have guarantees that cannot be excluded, and our liability for breaching them is limited — where the law permits — to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply. That is the remedy on the free plan too: there is no cash cap to reach, because there is nothing paid to measure one against.

11. Suspension and closure

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will normally warn you first unless the breach is serious or continuing. If we close your account without cause during a paid term, we will refund the unused part.

Sections 6, 9, 10 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top moves when we do. For material changes we will email account holders and give at least 30 days' notice; continuing to use the service after that means you accept them. If you don't, close your account and we'll refund the unused part of a paid term.

We may also change, add or remove features and data sources. Sources are outside our control: one can change its licence, its format, or stop publishing, and we may have to drop it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
